iOS 7 beta code suggests that Apple is planing to implement biometric scanning to the home button in its next model. Apple’s rolled out another beta version of iOS 7 to developers, it’s fourth so far. The release was believed to be delayed given downtime of Apple’s developer site, which is still coming back online following a security breach in July. Thanks to midrange Nokias devices, Windows Phone has now well and truly become Europe’s third smartphone ecosystem — albeit a long way behind iOS and Android.
That technology was spotted by frequent code sniffer Hamza Sood (via 9to5Mac), who picked up on a folder inside iOS 7′s code for “BiometricKitUI.” That folder includes instructions for fingerprint recognition that can pick up on the person’s left or right thumb while holding an iPhone.
