Microsoft is working harder to give more as apps in Windows 8, and in addition to the release of Windows 8.1, we got Microsoft Remote Desktop for Android and iOS. Before this app I personally use iOS App Pocketcloud from here and for Android here

As you can get idea form name this is a tool which allows user to connect to any (your own or other) Windows machine remotely and allow to work remotely (Yes, it is secured, as you need to give username and password).

Interestingly, the iOS app has an extra bullet point: “Easy connection to external monitors or projectors for presentations.” It’s not clear if the Android app is missing this feature and will be added in a subsequent update, or if it’s just not listed.
