Intro:
Everyone now a days is wondering what is 4K TV and what is the basic difference between HD TVs and a 4K TV. Well, her is your answer.
One of the most major and noticeable differences is with pixels. HDTVs supported a maximum resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels i.e. this was the maximum number of pixels our HD screens could support/display on a screen. On the other hand a 4K TV supports 3840 x 2160 (about 8 million) pixels. This results in a display which is much more detailed, sharper and clear picture quality as compared to current 1080p standards.
4K TVs are advertised by many different names by companies as per their marketing strategies/policies with UHD, Ultra HD and 4K being one of mostly used names. Whatever name is given to them, they all have one thing in common and that is around 8 Million pixels. 4K TVs are getting cheaper with time and rest assure that soon they will replace our current 1080p HDTVs becoming the new standard for high definition.
4K vs HDTV – Is difference noticeable?
The answer can be Yes and No. Please remember that despite launch of 4K TV, 1080p HD is still very good. It is so good that it almost reaches the limits of what a human eye can see. By using a small screen you won’t be able to notice the difference in image quality easily so you may have to buy a bigger screen as it will make spotting the difference in display easier.
4K TV and 4K content:
To be able to fully feel the 4K experience, you will not only need 4K TV but also 4K content. Currently, content is in a transition stage towards 4K and you may face difficulties finding 4K content of your choice. Sony and Samsung video services are providing 4K alongwith Amazon which is offering limited 4K streaming and certain Netflix content is also on 4K. Hopefully, in near future as 4K becomes more common, 4K content will be available much easier. Lets wait and see.
